Skillset / Experience:
A virtualization engineers will work on the IT engineering team with multiple roles. The following are the main Job Functions that this position has.
Implementation Role
As an implementation engineer the position responsibilities are to implement new data center configurations for the customer environments as well as implementing new customer contracts on a per project assigned basis.
Engineering Role
On this role the engineer will be assigned to specific projects to improve or fine-tune the design of our data center virtual environments. On the Engineering role, the engineer will collaborate with the Product Development group in order to evaluate vendors, design architecture requirements and certify product implementation and support.
Primary Accountabilities
Responsible for implementing new customers on a per project basis.
Responsible for documenting customer implementations.
Responsible implementing and migrating customer environments into VMware, XenServer and Hyper-V environments.
Responsible for verifying backups of the Virtual Machines that are being implemented.
Responsible for technical advice to customers regarding their migration path to the CW Environment.
Responsible for defining the Storage requirements for the implementations and passing that information to the Storage Group.
Responsible for verifying monitoring for servers implemented.
Responsible of providing an Implementation Project Timeline at the beginning of every project.
Assisting Pre-Sales engineers on final design of solutions.
Assisting Product Managers to evaluate requirements, design architecture needed, and certify new products to be implemented.
Experience
At least 8 years of experience administering VMware virtual server host systems administration and support in a large scale, highly available 24/7 environment. The engineer will have proficient knowledge of mid-tier storage administration (SAN) and knowledge of Linux and Microsoft Server OS. Experience on 2 of the three virtualization technologies is a requirement. In addition, knowledge of Routing, Switching, TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP is required. Experience in supporting large scale environments is required. Customer skills to interact with our end customers is required. Applicant must also possess strong verbal and written communication skills and work well in a team environment. Applicant must be bilingual in Spanish and English.
Skills
HELPFUL SKILLS:
Microsoft W2003/2008/2012 administration knowledge.
Linux Redhat, Suse, or Ubuntu knowledge
Storage experience related to virtual environments.
Commvault Administration or other backup software experience.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training and certifications.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field preferred.
Eight or more years of experience in Virtualization environments and Enterprise IT.
Five or more years of experience administering VMware virtual server host systems administration and support in a large scale, highly available 24/7 environment.
Proficient knowledge of mid-tier storage administration (SAN) and knowledge of Linux and Microsoft Server OS, networking TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP is desired.
Experience in supporting large scale disaster recovery process is also required.
Applicant must possess strong verbal and written communication skills and work well in a team environment.
Experience working with appropriate complex systems administration, database administration, and landscape maintenance
Experience working with company and client documentation and storage procedures
Experience working with complex system implementations and organizational processes
Certification Requirements
· VMware Certified Associate – VCA-DCV
· VMware Certified Professional – VCP5-DCV
· Citrix CCA for XenServer 6
· Microsoft MCITP: Virtualization Administrator
· Professional Level Certifications are a plus and training will be provided by the company.
